About the Artist
Postma’s work is non-linear and associative. The work is created intuitively and without a preconceived plan or sketch. At first it looks recognizable and realistic, but on closer inspection the forms are mysterious and playful. From a detail from nature she can make a new independent entity, the forms in her work take on a life of their own. Meanderingly the thoughts run with her, what she sees she adapts to her own style.
Her most important medium is pencil on paper. She also works with ceramics, acrylics, textiles and graphics.
Marjo Postma (Ulestraten 1958) won the Prix de Rome in 1984. She lives and works in Amsterdam.
Her work is included in private and public collections.
