With the introduction of De Kunst Gast, The Art Guest, platform Art is A Guaranty wants to bring some relief to people at home during this lockdown period. At the same time The Art Guest offers the possibility to make a direct financial contribution to the source, the artist.

Unfortunately, The Netherlands did not end up under a hard lockdown after all. There are all kinds of regulations and only essential shops can stay open, no museums, theaters or cinemas are allowed to be open and one can only order online and have this delivered. Meeting each other online remains a godsend for many things, but there is also a great need for something real.

The Art Guest offers works of art that are guests in people’s homes. With the introduction of The Art Guest we hope to soften and fill the metaphorically empty space in the houses created by the Corona. A work of art that sits as a guest in your home.

What is the difference between The Art Guest and an ‘Kunstuitleen’ / Art library?

The Art Guest establishes a direct contact between the artist, his/her work and the viewer. An Art Guest is much more than a choice from countless works of art: the host deliberately chooses a work of art from a clear selection made by the artist him- or herself and which will be given specific attention by the viewer for a short period of time. The intimacy between the Art Guest and the person who makes a special place for the guest in his/her home results in a special dialogue about viewing and experiencing. The artist is very willing to participate in this exchange.

Choose your work of art and send out the invitation.

You can send the invitation for your Art Guest during the period of the lockdown. Once it arrives in your home, it will stay with your for two months. This as a counterbalance to all the virtual violence of the online presentations. The Art Guest can keep you company in a different way, bring inspiration, beauty, a thought, warmth or it can even be the occasion for a good conversation. The Art Guest can be ordered for someone personal, but of course it can also be ordered for someone else to be send out as a gift.

Below you will find an overview of all available works of art that can be invited as an Art Guest during the lockdown period at your home. If you see a work of art that you would like to receive as an Art Guest at home, please click on Deze Kunst Gast uitnodigen (Invite this Art Guest). Art is A Guaranty will then take care of the connecting contact between you and the relevant artist, where the practical arrangements can be discussed, such as whether the Art Guest can be picked up or delivered to your home, perhaps even whether the selected Art Guest needs to be installed at home.

Your Artwork arrives at your home Corona Proof, through pick-up or delivery service.

The collection, delivery and installation of the Art Guest will of course be corona proof and all RIVM guidelines will be followed. For having your Art Guest to stay you will pay the artist a fee of 225 Euros including VAT. In addition, a fixed amount at cost price will be agreed for any transport, both back and forth. The invited Art Guest is insured  ‘nail to nail’ by Aon insurances.
